New Developments in Oral Health

Dentists have an important role to play in detecting oral health problems early and at Arden House, we take this role very seriously.

Most people who come to see me quite rightly assume that I will check the health of
their teeth and gums at our consultation. What many people will not know is that
I also check for oral cancer.

I do this for every adult (irrespective of age or lifestyle) and for
the vast majority of people there is never anything to report.

To help me check this aspect of people’s health, I have invested in
the latest screening system called a Velscope. It uses a harmless
fluorescent light to detect tissue changes that might not
be apparent to the naked eye.

I can pick up any change earlier and as with all things,
the earlier we spot something, the easier it is to treat.
