What Our Regulator Says
All dental practices are regulated by the Care Quality Commission. They have regulated dentists since 2011 and we think this is a good thing. They check whether dentists are meeting certain minimum standards. They don't rate or grade - you pass or fail - and not everyone passes.
We were inspected in June 2013. The inspector talked to patients, team members and to Ian. He wanted to make sure that we really do what we say we do.
It went really well.
We were assessed against the following standards :
- Respecting and involving people
- Care and welfare of people who use services
- Cleanliness and infection control
- Supporting workers
- Assessing and monitoring the quality of service provision
We met all of the standards. We were particularly pleased that our patients were so positive. Given that the inspector can't grade our service, we were also very pleased that the inspector recognised our whole team's commitment to high standards :
We spoke with three people who used the practice. They made positive comments about the practice and the treatment they received. One person described the practice as "absolutely brilliant".
They told us how they had been able to have discussions with their dentist and to explain any issues they felt were important relating to their dental care. The provider had worked continuously to maintain and improve high standards of care by creating an environment where clinical excellence could do well.
Audits had been completed on all procedures and equipment for infection prevention and control. The latest audit had been completed in February 2013 and had a scoreof 97% when measuring against best practice.
(See more about our Sterilisation Centre for an explanation.)
The practice used a "walk around" audit tool. This involved monthly checks of a number of key areas such as waste disposal, cross infection control, health and safety, confidentiality and security. The policy was for a different member of the practice's team to carry out the audit each month.
We really are committed to all aspects of your care. To make us your dentist in Cheltenham use our BOOKING FORM or call us on 01242 512444.
