Cheltenham Festival Returns

We’re super excited here at Arden as Cheltenham sees the return of what is arguably its biggest event of the year – Cheltenham Festival.

With an attendance of 250,000 people across 4 days, it’s fair to say that the atmosphere is pretty extraordinary. The event is attended by people from all over the UK and although it is centred around the races, it also offers amazing food stalls and an unrivalled atmosphere. The race prize money is second only to the Grand National – in other words, it’s a pretty big deal if you’re a jockey! Every year hundreds of millions of pounds are gambled over the course of the 4 days that it runs.  The event started on Tuesday and ends this Friday.

The ‘Cheltenham Roar’ is the famous sound of the excited crowd who gather here each year – there’s nothing quite like it!

The 4 days of the festival are:

  1. Champion Day – The most important day of the festival takes place on Champion Day – Stan James Champion Hurdle.
  2. Ladies Day – Features the ‘Colour Me March’ competition for Best Dressed Lady with prizes worth £10k! The main race on this day is the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chace.
  3. St Patrick’s Thursday – Plenty of Guinness will be available on tap! There’s also performances from Ireland’s own ‘The Dublin Legends’, as well as two races – World Hurdle and the Ryanair Chase.
  4. Gold Cup Day – The final day of the festival never fails to deliver a bang! One of the biggest jump races of the season takes place on this day.

The website here includes a betting guide if you’re new to betting or if you’d like to find out mroe about how to get involved.

You can follow all the action from the event by checking out the event’s Twitter page. Better still, attend the event!

We feel proud to be a dental practice in Cheltenham, especially during this time of year when it is in all its majesty! Many of our patients and staff attend the event each year. We look forward to hearing about your experience of the festival!
