Our skin and face go through a lot during our lifetimes and no-one is free from the appearance of wrinkles into older age. Overtime our skin thins and loses its youthful elasticity and resilience, though there is a way to keep signs of ageing and wrinkles at bay.
Dermal fillers at Arden House can help restore the lost volume in static wrinkles, folds and lines rendering your face brighter, rejuvenated and youthful-looking. They are a simple non-surgical procedure with a very high rate of success.
Why do people get dermal fillers?
There are several reasons as to why patients have this procedure carried out. A few reasons are:
- Ageing skin – even if you have taken care to stay out of the sun, eaten a great diet and maintained a generally healthy lifestyle, your skin will still inevitably age. Dermal fillers can restore the natural volume in your skin, lost through natural ageing.
- Smoking, a poor diet and excessive consumption of alcohol. You are what you put in your body. If you are functioning on a poor diet, it’s likely that your skin will suffer the consequences through the appearance of wrinkles early in your lifetime.
- Bespoke treatment – Dermal fillers can add volume to specific areas of your face.
- Excessive sun exposure.
- Genetics.
How does the process work?
For the reasons listed above, collagen – the structural protein in our skin that renders us youthful-looking – leaves the skin in our faces.
An anaesthetic will be administered to the area in question, along with the fillers. The filler is then injected around the area and works to add volume and fill the folds, wrinkles and lines in question – the process takes an average of half an hour to 45 minutes and can last between 6 – 18 months, depending on the area being treated. The first treatment establishes a foundation for subsequent injections.
What about treatment available in beauty salons?
Every year there are many who enlist the help of beauty therapists to complete this treatment and the results can be damaging and irrevocable if they are not adequately qualified. Unlike dentistry, the market is unregulated, allowing some practitioners to carry out treatments with little or no training, so we strongly advise using a qualified dentist or doctor to undergo this treatment. As dentists study the face for their entire careers, they are exceptionally experienced with facial injections.
A recent article from December 2015 exposed evidence that some patients were ‘Put at risk over Botox jabs’ at the hands of unqualified and unlicensed beauty therapists – it is paramount that you do your research before undergoing treatment, ensuring that whoever is performing your treatment has the relevant skills to do so.
Here at Arden House, our specialists have an in-depth training of administering the products for this procedure. Our practitioner is registered with the General Dental Council and the General Medical Council, has an aesthetics fellowship and has many years of skills and experience in administering fillers and Botox.
We use the two most prestigious and highest quality products on the market – Juvederm and Allergan Botox. ®.
